Red lights are set in place in high traffic areas to help vehicles
and pedestrians cross intersections safely. Intersection cameras and
police officers issue an Arizona red light ticket in order to
discourage running red lights. Running a red light is dangerous for a
number of reasons:
- You could crash into oncoming traffic.
- You could run over pedestrians.
- You could cause oncoming traffic to brake quickly, in turn, causing
fender benders.
A study from 2000 shows that 20% of fatal crashes in the United States
occurred because drivers failed to observe traffic light laws. This is
a dangerous problem, and by issuing red light tickets, police offers
are working to make the roads safer.
