Experts set the speed limits in place for a reason – speeding is
very dangerous. When you’re traveling at high speeds, you have less
time to react to problems on the road. In addition, most cars are made
to travel at excessive speeds; they don’t handle as well. Speed limits
protect you and the people around you. If you get a citation, you have
no one to blame but yourself.
Speeding limits are also in place to protect you from other drivers.
Even if you are the best driver in the world with tons of experience
driving at high speeds, when you drive to the store or to work, you are
not on a closed track. Speed limits help to give you enough time to
react to other drivers, many of whom will not be as good at driving as
you are.
